I think it would be ok for them to start at 14-15 as long as they understand that Mom will be checking in to see what's going on. If they don't want me to see something, then it shouldn't be posted for anyone else to see.
Our school puts on a very good assembly for the kids about internet safety and how posting simple things could turn into a nightmare. The kids are amazed at what they are shown/told at the program and it is interesting to hear their responses after the assembly.
