My son is only 12 months and his greatest joy is dismantling and taking things out of their storage places. So like the other posters, I think that part is just normal development. I also agree with what the other posters said in regard to consistent responses to behaviors that you don't want to see.
While it may be a little more work now, his behavior can be modified.
