Just run into a few AP'ers on the net that get very uptight if any discipline is used that involves leaving the child cry for a little bit.
I guess there are different levels of it.. Mine still sleeps with us, but I'm not opposed to letting him cry behind a gate for a few minutes if behavior calls for it.
