Hmm when i read this I am under the understanding he is not participating with house duties too. I could be wrong.
if my child were not they could go watch thier team play but could not participate until they were helping. (this may need to be discussed with coach first)
I would make them watch thier team anyway if they decided they didnt want to play. then they have towatch thier fun and what they are missing out on and even if they feel they are not missing anything there is no loss.
