Does she often party with her friends till 3am? My wife does it every few months and I think it's good for her. I don't worry about bad things that happen in those hours as I totally trust her, but I also wait up for her as she does me!
I suspect she without realising it in advance suddenly found herself free of the responsibilities of motherhood for the first time in a very long time and the opportunity to go out with the girls for some fun prevented her from realising the full impact of her decsion. While it doesn't excuse her as she was patently wrong to do it but it is understandable.

I wouldn't be able to sleep under those circumstances, moving your daughter to the tent would have been a good compromise though.

I think her freinds are just ganging up on you!
