Default Mow Hawk On a 7-year old

My ex-wife is nuts!!! Ok, maybe that is a bit extreme but there is one particular issue that has come up this week and that is the reason I need help.
My ex loves my son, there is no doubt about that, but she relies on him so heavily for emotional support that I fear it is becoming VERY unhealthy. My son is 7 years old. My ex-wife is a diagnosed bulimic and has been being treated for depression for several years now. During our psychological evaluation she admitted to self medicating with alcohol and against the doctors recommendation she was still deemed fit to be the primary custodial parent. At any rate, I could probably go on and on for hours about her issues and my concerns but let me address the most recent matter, and the reason I need your help.

Apparently my ex wife promised my son, unbeknownst to me, that if he did well in school that he could get a mow hawk. His grades decreased throughout the year and his attendance was deplorable (by no fault of his own). Regardless, she took him and got him the mow hawk. It looks just plain stupid. I am to pick up my son this weekend for three weeks of scheduled parenting time and I'm not at all happy about the haircut and I think it sets a bad precedent and should not be allowed. She sent me pictures of it and has told him not to let me cut his hair.
What should I do as having a punk rock seven year old is in my opinion inappropriate and frankly a little embarassing.
Please Help.

Thanks
