What's in the best interest of this child is that the person who has acted as a father for the last 13 years should continue in that capacity. You don't take over as a caregiver of another human being and then decide it's "too much" of a burden. It's a life time moral commitment and a 18 year legal commitment.
I wonder what prompted DSS to petition to increase the amount of the child support.

Umm what's in the best interest of the child is that her "father" be around and be there for her and be a father as much as he can while not being with his ex wife!!! Where do you guys think this money goes? Certainly not to that little girl's heart. Chances are it's going to whatever her mom wants to buy. 9 times out of 10 child support is used for bills or groceries or whatever, not on anything the kid actually notices. A check every other week has nothing to do with a kid's interest, it has everything to do with a mother's interest. SHE LEFT THE AREA!! Meaning he can't see her! He can't be a father to her! That's where that little girl's best interest went out the window. I don't see how money could have anything to do with her best interest. Her mom chased away the only dad she ever had by being a nasty idiot. It's not too much of a burden to be a father for him, it's too much of a burden for him to pay that cheating lying woman more and more to keep the child he loves away from him.
Why doesn't anyone see that paying child support has nothing to do with the child? That check doesn't come in the little girls name. That woman needs to get a damn job and get a life and stop trying to ruin his.
People like her make me sick.
