I would let my kids travel abroad if there were safeguards and supervision. The eldest son (15) of a good friend of mine went on a 2 week trip to work with refugees from Haiti and the Dominican Republic. It was a life changing experience for him!

I think that I would be wary of any trip that involved minors going off by themselves just to party.
