Children: Nichole | Re: 8th grade Girl an A & F Student .... HELP!!!! | | I agree a tad Teresa, Too manyparents did not help in elementary school therefore letting go is all they did before. Few parents are truly involved now a days when both parents work till 5, kids do't get home till 6, dinner at 7 and off to bed soon after. Parents are relying more and more on the after school daycare programs to get homework finished.
My brother is in the Army, in Germany and his son is in 5th grade. He is pretty darn active in the kids school life, but still most homework is done at day care, then my brother just checks over it while he is making dinner. Not enough time in the day sometimes, for these parents to help in the beginning. |

Children: 2 children, Debra Lyn, and Logan (Bubba) Michael | Re: 8th grade Girl an A & F Student .... HELP!!!! | | We talked about this is great lengths in my house, I hate to sound like a bragging mother but my dd is quite smart, but she will also slip through the cracks if somebody doesn't watch her back. That is the main reason why I decided to stay home, she started K this yr and I want ot be involoved from the start, PTO, classroom mom, field trips, whatever. Kids whos parents are there in the school, talking with the teachers, helping in the lunchroom, anything...those kids do better in school. If the parents are involved from the start it shows the kids they should also be involved. |

HELP!!!! | | There is a study to, I will have to look fo rit but says that kids who eat meals with their families, like 3-5 meals a week, I think. Will do better in school, make better decisions (drugs, tobacco, alcohol ect...) then their non family meals counterparts. |
