Education Discuss Breastfeeding in the General Parenting Forums forums; I am at the moment, and it's great but at first it felt... weird. And the idea of dealing with lots of bottles makes me feel really tired.... | | |

Children: Nichole | Re: Breastfeeding | | lol, never did bottles myself. No need too ya know. I'm glad that you are nursing now and are not feeling weird by it anymore. I never really felt weird by it, but many have. Maybe it was because at the point of actually nursing her I had read and researched everything about it that it seemed normal to me. |

Children: I have two young daughters | Re: Breastfeeding | | I tried soo hard to breastfeed both of my girls. I had such a hard time getting my milk to come in both times and then when it did finally start to come in, it dried up just as quick as it came in. I tried everything. I even pumped constently trying to get it to come in. Poor things. I wanted to BF so bad, but it just didn't work out that way! Be lucky you had milk to feed your baby(s).

Children: Nichole | Re: Breastfeeding | | aND YOU SHOULD BE PROUD THAT YOU DID EVERYTHING YOU COULD AT THAT TIME TO NURSE. OOPS CAPS ARE ON. Thats better lol
Anyways I am sorry that you were unable to nurse your babies, I wish more then anyhting that you would have succeeded in doing so. I don't know your situation so I can't begin to evaluate your situation and determine weather there was anything else you could have done. Whats in the past is in the past, don't fret over it and don't ever feel like you didn't try. I am sure you tried doign everything that you had available. Unfortunately many women have your problem and do not have the help from proffecionals that they need. There are things to get your m,ilk to come in and things to keep it in. however if your baby was not latched properly (babies do not know how to nurse they have to be taught as well) your babies may not have been nursing effectivley in order to keep your milk from drying up. There are also things you can take to help increase milk supply, like oatmeal or fenegreek. You said you pumped often, so I am sure you tried as hard as you could. Please do not take this as I am bashing you or anything, I really am not and you should be proud that you tried so hard to nurse, more women should. |

Children: Nichole | Re: Breastfeeding | | well they say that 2% of women cannot for one reason or another. Maybe you are in the 2%, but if you plan to have kids then you need to think only positive and that you can do it. I would hate for you to think you can't and you never know if you decide to have a third then maybe you will get through it and be able to nurse. Even women who have insufficient glandular tissue, again very rare, but its there, then maybe you can nurse some and supplement the rest. That way your baby is still getting some milk.
If it was me I would find donor milk personally. Most insurances will pay for it now but not enough, so you would have to be willing to fork over a small fortune, but I have many friends that I know would be willing to give me their milk. I would trust them enough for that yk? Again thats just me though. |

Children: Isabella (9), Josephine (8), Hannah (5), and Natalia (7 months) | Re: Breastfeeding | | I am nursing baby girl number four. I breastfed all of my other girls and they all self weaned at different ages- Isabella at 13 months (which was a month before Josephine was born), Josephine at 18-19 months, and Hannah at 21 months. Had wonderful experiences each time. Natalia sometimes stops nursing for a moment just to smile at me and then goes back and that is the most awesome thing in the world.
