I'm a first time mother and came across many forums writing about Glenn Doman or Shichida flash cards system. Any parent out there who uses these methods on their newborn baby? Is it effective? I'm not really that convinced but maybe it's also my lack of knowledge about what wonders it will bring to the child, as claimed by the program. Your views are greatly appreciated.

I recently post a poll in my son's blog (Baby Isaac arriving in 14 days' time) and hope to get some views from experienced parents. Thanks to all your feedback and comments.

I need views/comments about the program to help me decide whether it's worth the while to start this program on newborn as I understand both programs require flashing of 100s (??) cards per day and it's been used on newborns.

The poll is to help me get an impression on how many support the program and how many think it's not really that necessary and the child will still grow up fine. And anyway, the poll is a free resource and it's for my own collating of data.

But it's ok if I don't get any input. Thanks anyway.

I just wanted to check with parents out there whether they tried the Glenn Doman or Shichida program on their newborn and whether it's highly recommended.

So, the poll is just to get a vote whether they support Glenn Doman's program or Shichida's program or both, OR, even after trying, they think it's not necessary or any other comments they may have.

Some of the parents may not have come across these programs as these programs were recently a hit. I am not really for it actually, but too many people are saying that it's really great for newborns as they can easily learn math or learn how to read at an early age. So, I just wanted some feedback from parents who may have tried these methods and whether it's high recommended or it's not necessary.

well to me it looks like a plain ol baby blog.
I have never heard of htese programs. Sounds tedious Myab want to consider doing baby sign since that has proven to be helpful to infants.

Thanks for your response. Oh yes, I was at a book shop and came across books on baby signs. Another friend also mentioned that it's quite good so, I may really go get it.

As for the Glenn Doman and Shichida, I am still not that convinced. Although it may be true that it makes the baby very alert and keen to pick up all those flashcards, but I still think it's good to just leave it to them to explore in their own way. The flashing of these cards sound like as if I'm trying to program the child in certain pattern.
