 | Re: Is there a Santa Claus? | | my husband jokes with me, but i didn't realise santa wasnt real until i was 12. i dont think there is any harm in letting kids believe in santa - they'll work it out for themselves at some time. i did (eventually!). and without santa you'd never get pictures like this!!! http://www.pickmeupmagazine.co.uk/to...&&&&&&&&page=9
too cute!!! |

Children: Nichole | Re: Is there a Santa Claus? | | so is that mean you are or are not denying them? lol
We have a new lady that comes to our playgroup and she made a comment about her and her husband do not want to lie to their children, so no santa tfor them.
I didn't say anything, because..well tis not my kid or my place ya know. However it made me really think.
Why is telling kids about santa lying. One he is a real person, and two, do you have to tell your child that Elmo is not real? That Cinderella is not real? If I go to 6 flags over Texas and she sees Sylvester, do I really need to say "hey baby look at that guy dressed up in a costume to look like a cat" NO I am going to say, "Look Nichole, Sylvester wants to say Hi to you" I doubt she will have nightmares about my lying to her. |

Children: Savannah and Hunter | Re: Is there a Santa Claus? | | I don't like saying things because I don't want to offend anyone. But, I intend to raise them as any traditional parent would. There will be a Santa and a Tooth Fairy as long as they believe in them.
But at the same time, it's hard because I am in a relationship with a man, and I don't know how we're going to deal with that. I have this fear that I'm going to make life hard for them. We're definitely trying to set a foundation. But I mean, we have traditional lives to a large extent, but I'd be a fool if I believed we were a traditional couple. The US isn't a great place to be gay. People are so close minded.
I've been really thinking about my children's faith. I'd prefer they have faith in God, and I think this correlates. Imagination and faith and what not. Imagination and fantasy are one of the great things about childhood. It's part of their innocence. |

People are very closed minded and full of hate, it makes me sick, but you and your sweet little family will be just fine, I'm sure of it
