It think alot of the increase in size has to do with drinking cow's milk. Not because of the calcium but because of the hormones that are fed to cattle to keep them producing large amounts. There are other things added to chicken, too. I heard there are antibiotics introduced to increase the size of chickens. All of these size boosters must surely remain in the food and effect the person who consumes it.
I have no proof, it's just what I think.
