I'm going to get strawberry tomorrow. I just hate her having all that sugar in that. She's not real big on ice cream either. I'm telling you she is very odd when it comes to things. She would be a vegetarian if I let her and drink only water. |

Children: A 16 month old boy, Eli. | Re: Gagging on milk | | That's so funny, what a goober. She's all about the texture and stuff, huh? I love how at Eli's age they'll eat pretty much anything that you put in their hands/mouth. <3

Children: A 16 month old boy, Eli. | Re: Gagging on milk | | He hated rice cereal though, I could never get him to eat that. So I just skipped it altogether. I tried oatmeal with bananas which worked a LITTLE better, but I think he just doesn't like baby cereal. He just has jarred baby food now and he loves to eat with his fingers, pretty much anything. He just adores feeding himself.

If she wants to be vegetarian, let her, LOL! You just gotta feed her the right stuff in the right amount. The combination of beans and corn form a perfect protein, just like meat, and there is a grain out there that has perfect protein itself, but the name isn't coming to me right not. Quinoa? Something like that, its a lot like rice preparation and flavor/texture.
Get creative. I used to be just like her and if I didn't like bacon so much I could go vegan in a heartbeat!

Children: Nichole | Re: Gagging on milk | | she does not have to have milk at all. Who told you she had to? Thats rediculous when we are one fo the only countries that deinks cows ilk in the first place. She is most likely picking up all she needs from other sources. Calcium Rich Foods Quote:
800 mg a day for kids who are 4 to 8 years old
Nondairy Foods with Calcium
Getting enough calcium can be a especially hard if your kids are allergic to milk. These nondairy foods can be good choices for kids with milk allergies who need calcium:
* Salmon
* Tofu
* Rhubarb
* Sardines
* Collard greens
* Spinach
* Turnip greens
* Okra
* White beans
* Baked beans
* Broccoli
* Peas
* Brussel sprouts
* Sesame seeds
* Bok choy
* Almonds
| and of course cheese, yogurts and the like
It also says that the percentages that they put on food labels is based on an adults requirements of 1000mg. So if it says Quote: |
So a cup of milk that was 30% DV for calcium, would be equal to 300 mg of calcium, which would actually be equal to 60% of a toddler's calcium needs for the day.
