Children: I have one daughter, Lyric.
Default Gluten Allergy. (Not Celiac)

Lyric is (as some of you know) allergic to Gluten. Her allergy to gluten is like an allergy to peanuts. Not an actualy disease like Celiac. With Celiac you have to cut all gluten from the diet or you'll probably face near-fatal concequences. Lyr is just allergic. But her allergy is pretty strong. With some allergies to gluten you can continue eating it and you'll experience little to no discomfort. With Lyr, even a little bit of gluten causes severe discomfort, diarhea, sometimes a rash. She has trouble sleeping. These things go hand in hand with a gluten allergy. I'm just not sure how to keep her safe from it. And healthy. I have a link to a site for gluten free recipes (which I got from somebody here), But I'm think along the lines of long-term. Gluten allergies often go along with constant fatigue, behavioral problems, weight loss... Those are all long term issues.
Anyway. I just basically wanted to rant my fears breifly. I feel a lot better after I worry and fret for a while.

Default Re: Gluten Allergy. (Not Celiac)

my friends dd is allergic to gluten as well. NOt celieac (they have tested her twice through GI surgeries and its negative) She can't have wheat, oat, barley, or any of that like a a celiac diet. SHe is also allergic to soy, and dairy. SO her meals are meat and potatoes mainly.

I would think to just keep lyric on a celiac diet (even if she is not really ciliac)
Make sure you watch for hidden ingrediants that they hide gluten in though. I don't know them off hand, but can get the list if you need it

The symptoms your DD experiences sound like anaphylaxis. A food allergy can be life threatening. A food intolerance just creates discomfort. I would avoid ALL gluten for your DD. Both my kids are severely allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so this topic isn't new to me. Are you seeing an Allergy/Asthma specialist? If not, I highly recommend it. Default Re: Gluten Allergy. (Not Celiac)

I’ve just been keeping her on a Celiac diet. She breaks out in a rash or has sever discomfort if she consumes any Gluten. But Lyr’s been testing several times for Celiac. So I’m pretty certain we’ve just got the allergy to deal with. We had a bit of an episode with the Gluten a while back. She was inpatient for three days!! Yeah, it definitely scared the shit out of me!
The thing is, some days are better than others. And today is NOT a good one. I have a hard time coping with Rika's death... And usually I can put on a happy face for Lyr and make believe that everything will be okay, but other days I can't. I'm in major financial stress, I start uni in September. I'm a single father with a 20 month old daughter, and I have so many problems of my own that's it's very, very hard to address both of ours. I'm just in a lot of stress... and I'm unsure of what to do.
So there's my rant.
Thanks to those who listened to it.

Why thank you. We tried to give her a name she could feel comfortable in. She's like the lyrics to my song... It wouldn't be right without her.

I totally understand!

Kayleigh is named after a Marillion song that I love so very dear.

Wow
That is tough. I found out recently my neighbor has that problem though she was diagnosed as celiac but her symptoms for some odd reason are the same as your daughters. i wonder if she has been misdiagnosed?
No dairy no grain for her either.
Which we found out no french fries and practically no fast foods ( salads even contain cheese or croutons )

I had given her a jar of quino or quilla or something like that and even that kind of hurt her tummy.

My aunt she has something that she can not have anything with seeds like tomatoes, rasberries would put her in tremoundous pain and many other things too ooh peanutbutter. you see the things would get stuck in her body and cause extreme pain and many of the symptons you described too. Though my aunt is allowed dairy.
I couldnt imagine living with either one of those conditions. So sorry.
I try to cook for the neighbor every once in awhile and i list everything I put in it just to make sure i dont lay her up for a night * yikes*
When I cook for her natural pantrys are my friend
