Children: 4yo girl 1yo boy | Graves Disease | | I was diagnosised with Graves Disease today. Not the best news but much better then Cancer. I knew pregnancy would wreck my body physically but I never thought it would turn it so upside down. I'm looking into a natural treatment. My dr. wrote me a rx which I filled but I also want to know what else is out there.

Children: 4yo girl 1yo boy | Re: Graves Disease | | Thank you.
It's basically my immune system attacking my thyroid and making it work too hard. In the long run untreated it could affect my vision and my heart.

Children: 4yo girl 1yo boy | Re: Graves Disease | | Cureable 2 outta 3. That's pretty good odds. I think if i get healthy again and get this last 10lbs of baby fat off that will help too. I was perfectly healthy before getting pregnant. I ate right and got exercise . Now it's more like did I eat breakfast? Peekaboo and constantly picking up toys.

Children: 1 girl and 3 boys | Re: Graves Disease | | Hey, I was diagnosed with Graves when I was 19. I am now 31. My goiter was so enlarged I had Radio-iodine treatment done. it worked 100% to reduce the goiter. I am now hypothyroid. Just take your synthroid and you'll be fine. A few things to keep in mind that my Dr. did not tell me which I learned later in my nursing career....1.take Synthroid the same time "every" dayon an empty stomach.(this is for life) Do not take a mulitivitiman with because it absorbs some of the synthroid therefore making it less effective. Wait about 4 hours , and also check any meds before takin gthem with it...including many Decongestents!!! By the way...you'll be fine...it is not life threatening...just dont get off your meds....Fell better |

Children: Nichole | Re: Graves Disease | | I am sorry that you were diagnosed with Graves, but like you said, at least its not cancer. It seems like it is a pretty livable disease. just take care of yourself and I will say a prayer for you as well |
