It's been a week and she still thinks she can just slide off our laps and go run and play, lol. Well, the first doctor said 4 months, no braces or physical therapy. The doctor that did the surgery (who we love!) said 6 weeks and either cast off and into a brace for a while or cast on for another 6 weeks.

Children: son Jonah and daughter Ellie | Re: Hip Dysplasia | | Our daughter Ellie was born with Hip Dysplasia of her left hip. She was wearing a harness for the first 3 months of her life and then an ultrasound showed that everything was ok. I'm so sorry you are going through that hugs... |

Well, I am sure you do. On the other hand my hip-baby is the youngest of 4 girls and was a regular delivery, so she had no factor's for it. It just happened. She is doing great. They adjust so well at this age. I just can't wait till I can see her walk again.

However, I have a condition called unicornate uterus (basically, my uterus is 50% of the normal size), so breech presentation is pretty common for this condition. I have read two different opinions about breech/Hip Dysplasia connection. First one is that breech causes Hip Dysplasia and the other one is that congenital Hip Dysplasia causes baby to be breech. Go figure… |

I started researching immediately. I have never seen that CHD causes babies to be breech. And in my opinoin makes no sense. I can see how Breech can cause CHD though. Of course like I said my daughter was not breech and did not have any deciding factor's other than girl's are 60% more likely to get it then boys.

Children: Taylor, Kylee, Emylee, Kenna | Re: Hip Dysplasia | | Just thought I would let everyone know that Kenna is cast free as of this past Tuesday. She is has been just wonderul through this whole thing. Kids adapt so well to things. The doctor said her hip looked so good that she only needed to wear the brace at night, rather than 24/7 like what she had thought. More exciting stuff: We were told it would take her a week to learn to sit up again, she was sitting up in the bathtub Tuesday night. We were told that it would take her a couple weeks to crawl, she is cruising around the house. While she doesn't bear all her weight on her left leg/hip, she is still pulling herself standing. We are so happy for her! I think we might get our little girl walking for her first Easter egg hunt afterall.
