Children: Nichole | Nichole;s lab results | | Well we have had diarrhea since Nichole was 12 months old or so (22 months now). We tried a completely dairy free diet (no milk product of anytype, including in breads and such) it worked really well. We then reintroduced it to her diet after 3 weeks and everything was great. It came back again about 3 months later. We did elimination diet again and this time it did not work.
So her doctor ran some stool tests on her. Everything came back negative for bacteria and viruses and such. BUT her pH came back way low.
They said that this is usually just a gateway to know something is wrong and we need to find out what it is. She thinks it is a carbohydrate intolerance. (sucrose, lactose, dextrose, frutose ect..). We have to go to a GI on the 27th of this month now. They want to test her for a bunch of things to determine what it is not. They also will run a cystic fibrosis sweat test. That makes me sooo nervous. BUT the doctor said that CF is not high on her list because Nichole is growing very well. She is tiny though!! Still in 12 month clothes at almost 2. BUt she has steadily grew on her percentile on the growth chart since 6 month old. (she was highger before 6 months)
So.. thats my story just wanted to share |

Children: 2 children, Debra Lyn, and Logan (Bubba) Michael | Re: Nichole;s lab results | | oh kaytee...I'm sorry, the waiting is the hardest part. I remember when DebraLyn was 12 months old they did a CBC was her white blood cell count came back very very low...(which is a sign of plenty of bad things) I had a whole weekend before I was able to take her back in and then wait for results...it was heartbreaking not knowing...everything turned out OK and she outgrew her blood disorder but....anyways I hope you get all your answers soon

Children: Nichole | Re: Nichole;s lab results | | ya'll are sweet. I am not concerned about the cystic fibrosis anymore. Yes diarrhea can be a sign in young children, but it is more failure to throve then anything. And she is not FTR. |

Children: One boy, Bradley | Re: Nichole;s lab results | | I'm sorry your daughter is going through this...but here's my advice:
For the love of God...STOP trying to research this by yourself on the internet based on her symptoms. It will only drive you crazy because there are a billion different things this could be, and some of them are probably horrible life threatening illnesses. lol....it really will make you sick worrying...so just let the Dr's do their thing and don't think the worst. It'll probably be nothing! |

Children: Nichole | Re: Nichole;s lab results | | lol me research???!!! lol ok so I am a huge researcher now but that is because of all the time doctors have screwed me over for nothing but pain and heart ache for my daughter.
However, with this there isn't much to research since the only thing we know for sure now is that she is growing fine but has had diarrhea for almost a year. There are no crazy bacteria or parasites in her its just somthing. Most likely just an intolerance to some sugar or anotisher. I am actually not too c
oncerned just more impatient to kno so I can finish weaning her |
