Smile Omega 3

I've recently began to give my children Omega 3 supplements and I have noticed a huge difference in their performance in school. Especially my son who has gone from being a D student to an A and B student. I have always given my children multi vitamins but the whole family was lacking in the fish oil department as we rarely eat any fish. More and more parents are hearing about the benefits of this supplement, it truly is amazing. Oh, and don't forget it helps adults too.

We just came back from an appointment with my son's doctor who recommended Omega-3 supplements as well. She said she tries to have parents give it to children especially with a predisposition to mood disorders and ADHD. I have to do some more research but it sounds like it might be helpful.

WOW ~ that is awesome to see your children thriving. I may need to try this with my own son. He is 10 and a B student - but used to be an A student. Not that I totally expect him to be perfect but I feel (mother's intuition) that he is "lacking" something and this may be it. Does it taste funny? Thanks for the information.....

Tracy - I was taking "Dr. Whittaker's Daily Regimen" which included an omega-3 softgel pill. There was no fishy taste whatsoever. The capsule actually had a pleasant sweetness you could taste prior to swallowing. I took a quick peek at http://drwhittaker.com and he offers both the Daily Regimen for kids & DHA (an omega-3) for kids.

If you do consider a supplement I recommend spending a little time doing research. It seems not only do you have to figure out what to take but then make sure you're getting quality from the manufacturer you choose. Dr. Whittaker claims to maintain very high quality levels & do all kinds of "latest research" but that can just be good marketing too I suppose. Also I learned that unfortunately supplements can get expensive quickly.

I take Omega 3 and Flaxseed Oil for my heart and arthritis. I didn't realize it would affect children's moods. Maybe I should start giving it to my oldest who seems "moody." I'll look into it, thanks for the information.

What exactly is Omega 3? I know that you can buy eggs with it, but I am not sure what it is for.

I never thought there is an omega 3 supplement for kids. Is there an available over-the-counter omega 3 supplement? I know oatmeal has omega 3. I am happy that my daughter loves to eat oatmeal. She usually has this for breakfast. At least, she has an omega 3 intake everyday.

Long version at Wikipedia.

Short version - it's supposed to have huge health benefits.

Recently I started up again adding toasted wheat germ to yogurt for an extra boost of fiber and omega-3; I found myself wondering why I ever stopped! You can also add it to oatmeal, bread, cookies, graham cracker crusts, ice cream, all sorts of treats. I like the way it tastes just by itself. My son is horrified by the idea of swallowing pills...we're not there yet...so we do chewable multivites and supplements like wheat germ, flax meal in the chow.

Wow? D to a A/B student just from Omega 3? Are you sure you didn't slip some encouraging motivation?
