Children: 5 year old son, 18 month old daughter | Re: what are some | | If you're looking for a way to get your daughter to gain a little weight without changing her diet, I have an idea...try offering her dip with her fruit and vegies. Dips can be made with sour cream and mayonnaise, along with a flavoring of your choice (brown sugar for fruit, dill for vegies). The sour cream and mayo would add a few more calories to the diet, and a little variety for your daughter.
My struggle is getting my son to eat veggies. He loves fruit, meat, chicken, anything else. I can't name one vegetable that he likes. As a baby, he ate all home-made food and most of it was veggies. He loved them. Now, it's impossible to get him to eat them. The only way I manage to get the greens (or yellows, or any other color) into him is by putting them through the blender, and mixing them into spaghetti sauce, soups, or whatever. |

Children: Nichole | Re: what are some | | My dd is only 19 months old so we have n issue with getting her to eat yet. She loves almost all veggies, except peas, and loves fruit, meat, you name it she will eat it. She even like salad.
The dip is a good idea. I have a friend who's dd is failure to thrive and they were having her put extra oil in the food to add calories. Not sure if I would do it but.. |

Avacado is also a great fat and really good on a sandwich or wrap. A mayo based dip would also provide some omega3 |

| Re: what are some | | Remember (as I am sure you know) do not introduce an unhealthy diet. I mean once you gain too much weight it is hard to take off (i know personally lol) I am sure you are aware though! |

| Re: what are some | | My oldest son doesn't want to STOP eating, he's 10 and over 130 pounds. I personally think that's too much, but he screams that I'm starving him if I try to keep him from eating seconds. I'm about to scream myself! |

 | Healthy ice cream | | Great topic! I have a product suggestion for you. It is called Laloo's Goat Milk Ice Cream ( www.laloos.com). It is a healthy snack alternative to cow milk ice cream. It is made from goat milk and has half the fat and half the calories of the traditional ice cream vendors. You might think the taste will suffer because it lacks "the good stuff". Well, let me tell you, this stuff is amazing. My wife and I eat it regularly to satiate the sweet tooth we both have. Of course, everything in moderation. I wouldn't eat a whole pint in one sitting just because it is better for you. It also agrees with digestive tracks of lactose intolerant people.
I just recently lost 50lbs thanks to a year-long trip around the world. I quit my job and went backpacking with my wife through Europe, Southeast Asia and South America. When I left I was 280lbs and now I am down to 230lbs. I feel great and I have more energy than ever before. My goal is to lose another 50lbs. The weight flew off when I was on the road. I was constantly moving my body because I didn't have a car to take me where I wanted to go. Also, the portion sizes in America are massive compared to most other countries. So I ate less and exercised more.
With that said, now that I am home, losing weight has proved more difficult. I am not counting calories per se but I am aware of how much I eat and what the calorie content is. I am seeking out healthy options for pretty much everything I crave. I also have an extremely mature sweet tooth (probably how I got to be 280lbs) and I need to satiate my cravings with yummy supplements - hard to do when you love chocolate ice cream.
My reasoning for telling you all about Laloos is because I've learned that balancing a brief indulgence with unabashed diligence toward a healthier life is paramount to success. Of course, we are all different and each of us have success stories hinging on different strategies. Mine is plain and simple, a spoonful or two a day of Laloo's Deep Chocolate and exercise 7 days a week. I never feel like I am depriving myself, I'm not counting calories and I feel great. |

 | Re: what are some | | huh? I was just letting you all know about Laloo's cause I love it so much. Sorry if it looked fishy to you. I've been working on losing weight for almost a year now and I found a food that I love and is not bad for me. I thought this was the place to recommend stuff like that. |
