Default birthday ideas

so Logan will be one soon and we are having a pool party for him...he loves the water. I need theme ideas, cute decoration ideas, things like that. I don't think I want to go with a water theme but maybe that would be cute....ideas please

Can you get a sandbox for them to play in? Prizes could be a bucket and shovel. You can get ideas and gifts from a dollar store.
My son's first was more for the adults then the kids. We did a pinata, cake, presents and let them run amuck and play with the toys on the patio. It was kept simple.

I love the ducks...those are very cute. The sandbox idea is great but I don't think I could do that at the club (we've rented out a room and pool for the day, my mom runs the place so free for us)

I think I can help you!
My daughter Macy is turning 12 in a few weeks (WOW time flies by.) She really wanted a birthday party, and HOW could I turn that down. So here I am...a grown man, struggling to plan my daughters birthday party. I swear a little angel came along to guide me through this whole thing. A co-worked told me about this website, cleverparties.com , you can plan your kids birthday parties, holiday parties, etc all on the site and order everything. I just finished ordering everything and wow was it a lifesaver. It gives you theme ideas and there is TONS to choose from. I had my daughter help me pick the invites, and then we ordered decorations and food from there as well. I would definitely suggest this site! http://www.cleverparties.com

Ducks are a cute idea, placing the sandbox outside and burrying prizes could be fun. You could set up easy bing bag toss, you could cut the top of a gallon jug and make them drop clothes pins in for a prize, You could set up a curtain where they have to throw over a fishing like that has a clothes pin on it and an adult or child on the other side can attach a prize (so instead of catching fish they catch candy). You could get print outs of boats and let them finger paint the boats to take home or make sailor hats (easy). You can buy $1.00 buckets for take home prizes with a rubber fish, a small net, a shovel and the picture of their boat and maybe a small plastic boat. (just some hints)

The difficulty, as I'm sure you know since you already have an older one, is that a first birthday is more for the parents than it is for the child, because one-year-olds are not aware enough to know what is going on. I'd be inclined to ask my older child what kind of party would be fun. This will include her in the process (it's the first time she's had to share the spotlight) and I'm sure it will appeal to him too.

Since the party is more for the adults, keeping it adult, while having a few things to entertain the kids is a better idea, but remember anything longer than an hour for a one-year old is bound to cause problems, so know when to release him from the chore of having to be the day's star, without regret and continue to enjoy the party for the party's sake.

I think I'd go for a Hawaiian-type theme, complete with grass skirts and drinks out of pineapples. Even one-year olds can get the funny part of seeing others in a grass skirt and a floppy hat. He might even enjoy stealing your sunglasses or hat. Most party stores have Hawaiian theme goodies and even adults seem to get into that tropical theme, especially after a couple of Mai-Tais

Some parents won't allow their children at parties wtih adults serving alcohol (I'm one of them so include that on your invitation) I would include the older one as far as her helping decorate but not make the party for her. How fair is that?

I am thinking of doing like dolphins or Finding Nemo for Natalia since she also loves water. Or seals because she loves seals. Would Logan like something like that?
