I don't think a movie could sway my faith or that of my children. | thats very true. So why would this man make it his goal to "kill God"? THats just crazy in my mind. I would let my young child seet his just like I wouldn't let them see a movie that was trying to kill Buhda. |

Any diety "killing" is most likely a purely underlying theme. No kid is going to pick up on it. All they are going to see is the talking polar bears and cool special effects. |

Children: Nichole | Re: The Golden Compass | | which is why I want to read it, most likely people are just overreacting, but until I know for sure, if she wanted to watch a movie that is basically the same thing, then we will watch The Chronicles of Narnia. Since this movie/book is supposet o be the opposite of it |

If I can tell the theme is to kill God then I won't let my kids see it because they pick up on things.

For kids it's just a fantasy novel/film like Harry Potter. The rest of it will go right over their heads.
Whether to take your kids to see the film or not is a personal choice, of course, I'm just playing Devil's advocate here.

I was just thinking of myself as a kid and how many things in films/books I didn't "get" until much later in life (like certain parts of the film Dirty Dancing... )

I was much more naive than my 8 year old and even my 9 year old doesn't get things the 8 year old does sometimes. She is the reason I have to be really careful.
