Default Hello I am new but not really a parent yet.

Hi I am a normal 19 year old guy. I go to college hang with friends and am Trying to get a new girlfriend . One thing that always separated me from other guys my age and especially my cousins my age is one thing. While they all care for sex and partying I always just wanted to be a Dad. I mean I am gonna wait till I finish college so I can financially support a family but it always has been a dream to have a family. Something MAJOR for me is learning how to be a great Dad. I have always loved kids and they always like me back. But that obviously is not enough to be a good Dad. I found this forum (going to google and typing in Parenting Forums LoL) and read through it and decided it seemed like a cool place to learn new things. Another reason I joined is to share info about Predators that would seek to harm children. I know me and hopefully my wife will be good with our kids but I do not trust strangers. I have searched some VERY frightening and Enraging blogs on the internet to see how a Predators mind works and how they work to "groom" their way to our children. I want to share some of that info as it has been VERY beneficial for me in helping me learn how to protect my future kids.

On a lighter note I would like to tell about the kids a want. I want to have two of my own kids with my future wife. I hope for boys there but it doesn't matter. The reason I hope for boys is because I want to adopt an Asian girl from Cambodia or some such area and a European girl from some European country. Both under the age of five really. Adopting a kid is great to me because you could be saving the kids life or making it much better.

I know most of this stuff is gonna be happenin in like 6-7 years but I can dream can't I?

Anyway that is my intro. Hello All!!!

Hi SuperMario, you seem to be very thoughtful, I hope you like this forum, there are lots of nice people. I find it very interesting and I have learned a lot already myself.

Your are right about there being a few scary people out there on the Internet looking to make friends with girls, so girls need to be careful that is for sure. I use to go to LiveWire a lot, and it was a lot of fun at first, but I kept getting funny email from boys I didn't know. They kept wanting to talk about s-e-x ALL the time. Anyways I don't go there so much any more.

I hope you find a very nice girl real soon!

Welcome. I am sure you will find this forum a nice place to discuss parenting issues. I feel that those who run the form have their heads and hearts in the right place. They want it to place where people can seek help and others can share their experiences. And disagreements are not framed as personal attacks.

This issue children on-line and being taken advantage of by others is a serious concern for all parents, and a topic worth discussing. Our 11 year old daughter has some restrictions, mostly legal, about what she can do on-line. If she wants add a new person to her contacts and IM friends, she is required to share that person with us. We have put a lot of thought into what she can and can't do, and for the most part she is not limited to where she can go on the Internet. She can't create a new user account on any site until we have read the EULA; many sites have age restrictions. So far this has not been a problem for us, all the people she sends\receives email from are people who are friends from school or relatives.

I am sure there is a very nice girl waiting to meet you who shares your values and interest.
