Update...

I got inside information from high up the food chain that I'm not on the list to get laid off. That's fabulous news, and such a weight lifted off of my shoulders.

On the downside, I found out that the guy I work with will be getting laid off. I'm not allowed to say anything to him about it...he'll find out on Wednesday. It's very hard to face him knowing what's going to happen.

I'm glad to hear your job is secure. I'm sorry to hear about your co-workers, though. My mama and dad's plant just made the official announcement to the public today that they are filing Chapter 11 and that another company bought them and that they have 90 days at the most to finish work. Not to mention, their most major debt is their pension plan. They are in debt to the sum of 8.5 million. My parents have worked there for 25 years and they have 90 days max and are out on their butts with no severence package, no schooling assistance, and (it seems) some of their pension spent. Sad.

Great news! Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to be sure your resume is up to date. You never know. I say this because we've had a few scares ourselves in the past. DH has always kept his resume current and kept friendly contacts with former bosses and head hunters. This has been a blessing more than once. At one point DH sent out feelers for a new job because there were rumors of lay offs. He got offered a position, and the day he gave his two week notice, several co-workers were laid off. He'll never know if he was to be one of them, but since he already had a (better) position lined up, it wasn't a concern of ours.

So, it all went down yesterday. They marched 16 people out from IT yesterday, and a total of 25. This includes the other guy that does IT Help Desk, who I have become friends with. We're a very small, close-knit company. It was like watching familiy members walking out. It was so sad, and it was like a funeral parlor here.

I'm thankful that I still have a job and can support my family, but it's a very bittersweet day.

it's kinda creepy in here today. Can't wait to go home. Fortunately, I'm off to Columbus with my finacee tomorrow for the weekend for a Christian conference. That should be refreshing, and awesome timing.
