Posting Guidelines for ParentingForums.org

1. Treat other parents with dignity and respect. Personal attacks, hate speech, racist or sexist attacks, sexual harassment, lude sexual comments, is completely unacceptable.

No attacking other members through posts on the board, email or private messages. We do not allow name calling, harassment or personal insults. You may express opposing view points but we want our members to feel safe from abuse. Please take the time to read your posts before you hit the post button and make sure that your posts are worded in a respectful nature. Posts that are not respectful, rude or insulting to other members will be removed

2. Do not post any content that would be inappropriate for children. No graphic language, nude or sexually explicit images. Adult conversations about sex are acceptable as long as people are mindful to use proper terms (no "f" words, etc.) and not to go into graphic descriptions of sex acts. (PG-13)

No posting of links to pornographic material. We do not allow pictures or links to pictures with nudity. (Exclusions include pictures of birth stories or pictures for educational purposes, must have prior approval from a moderator before posting).

3. No posting just to incite, taunt, mock, insult, attack, etc other parents. (aka "trolling") Trolling is an art form in itself, those who are extremely good at trolling will turn it on/off. They might post fully acceptable comments 80% of the time, but 20% of their posts are crafted to cause problems for individuals and the forum.

4. No posting just to advertise products, services, or other websites. While it is OK to have a link to your website in your signature line, affiliate links and paid posting are not allowed. If it is determined that your posts appear to be solely for the purpose of advertising, they will be deleted and the account will be banned. To avoid coming across as a spammer, make sure you post quality, relevant feedback for discussions. Spammers usually write one or two really general statements that could apply to most people's situations.

5. Be supportive and helpful to other parents. If a new parent comes here asking for support or help, the atmosphere needs to be a place where parents feel the forum is safe & friendly. Even if you personally think a problem posted is fake, either treat it as a hypothetical problem or ignore it. Do not challenge the new parent as if this a debate forum.

6. No duplicate posts. Please don't post the same thing in more than one place.

7. No Misuse of the Reputation system. When giving out reputation it must be for justified reasons. When giving out bad reputation the reasons must be acceptable to the moderators. There are many ways the rep system can be misused to cause problems for the forum and we shall not publicly discuss how it has been misused in the past.

8. Posting copyrighted material. If you have not personally written or created what is posted then do not post it. You can post links to articles or information.

9. No posting of hostile comments about moderators or administrators. ParentingForums.org does not permit the insulting or antagonizing the moderation team. If you disagree with a moderation decision, you may send a respectful private message or email to one or all the moderators expressing your concerns.

Moderators are in a position to look out for the long term interest of a forum, and this occasionally requires them to privately or publicly take unpopular actions. They are not always free to publicly disclose the details of actions that have been taken.

10. CrowdGather.com. The owners of this forum have a variety of forums to complement ParentingForums.org. Those forums have their own set of guidelines, and some of them allow a far greater latitude in what is considered acceptable than what is permited here. If you feel a need at times to express yourself in ways outside of this forum parenting guidelines, check out one of the Crowdgathers's adult forums: CrowdGather Communities

Have a great day!
