The only aspect of the show that I don't like is that it misleading to think people in general can loose so much weight so fast. On the show they are disappointed when they don't loose 5lbs+ per week. In the real world loosing 1lbs-2lbs per week over 1 year is excellent and far more healthy than loosing 100lbs in 4 months with the high risk of gaining it all back over the next 8 months. |

I've been impressed that during the TV show they show these people with flabby skin as a result of the weight loose. I would be disappointed if at the end of the 4 months these people all looked like Hollywood stars with plastic surgery and everything else.

Puzzling. The only thing I can think of is that the spell check sofware changed it and I didn't notice it. |

One of my biggest pet peeves is when parents entertain their children so constantly that they do not learn to think independently. It is important they learn to problem-solve, or use their imaginiation. This is the same logic that I use when she comes to ask me how to spell a word. I won't tell her. I will ask her to do it. If she gets it wrong, then I help her. But imagine - if I tell her every time, why would she bother to think about it herself? I feel like I am always defending myself to other parents on this subject! |

Children: One boy 8, twin girls 7. | Re: Randomness | | My littlest twin is like that as well. She used to get a book and have someone read it to her at school (at five years old) and she would actually memorize it! So when she came home to read it to me she knew it. I caught on after a few books because she was pretty good. So now I quiz her. I make her go the extra mile. We dry run her spelling test and if she gets a few wrong then I break out a new piece of paper and she has to right them 6 more times. Then I wait an hour and retest her. You'd be surprised the 100% she brings home now. She knows she can not sneak because I will call her out on it. I remember my mother saying something to be about "why don't you stop him from crawling on the chair, he's going to fall and hurt himself" I answered back with "well, he won't do it again then will he?" Sometimes you have to step back. Of course I wouldn't let them seriously hurt themselves but a scratch or a bruise from a lesson isn't always a bad thing |
