My boyfriends birthday is coming up... I am a stay at home mom and don't have any money of my own (I have our money, but it comes from him) I hate asking him for money to get his birthday gifts (it seems not right to me). My kids all make homemade things for him (I don't think that would work for me). Every year I bake a birthday cake an make a special dinner. Any ideas of any special things I can do for him to make his day a little more special without having to ask for some money to get his present...

We do "my day" birthdays. It is just known that our birthdays are Our Days - so at breakfast, we get to request our favorite meal, we can tell the kids to quit fighting cause its "my day", we can laze around and watch home movies if we want because its "my day", or go out to dinner, or be left alone to read for 5 hours - or whatever! It's "my day" - that time for ultimate indulgence, however we choose that to manifest. Its glorious, and we both really look forward to them! | ||

Well unfortuanately with you staying home, you do have to get the money from him if you want to "buy" a gift. But its not HIS money, it's YOURS. He is working so that you can stay home and raise your children. That is a huge job as you know. A no money gift, I always make my husband a really nice scrapbook card on the computer. Typically of him and Nichole. He seems to really like it

Yeah we do my day too. Every meal what they want and total pampering.

I like the "my day" idea. I think I can do that one.. I guess we do kind of have like a "my day" already, I do bake his favorite cake and make whatever he wants for dinner I'll just step it up with more things through out the day. The scrapbook card online sounds neat, I can probably make one at home with my girls (we don't have too many good pics on the computer, and he never has a chance to get on the computer for fun). Last year we made him coupon books (the kids made one, and I made a separate one.. I'm sure you can guess why) He really liked those! I know it seems funny, I do know that his money is our money cause I stay home and handle all the home things and bills.. ect., but when it comes to holidays/birthdays I feel a little guilty. He always says it's not a problem an that I can just go take it out and he'll never know it was gone (because I handle the bills & accounts.. ect) I guess it's just that I am very independent and before staying home with my girls I had 2 jobs and went to school, so it just kind of bothers me to do it that way.... There is this show that is going on at one of the theaters in our area and he really wants to go see it ("mornings at seven" at an amature theater we have never been to but want to go check out) he keeps hinting for his birthday (we both like the theater, so sounds like I'll probably take him to see it).. But I'm going to incoprate the other ideas into the day as well.. Thanks bunches!!

for Ryan we decorated the house with homemade chains and things, made a cake and a special dinner and just treated him like king for the day

My kids made me cards and baked me a cake (with the help of my dad). It was nice. Of course my best gift this year came four days later- Miss Natalia was born that day.
