Default Any Step-Parents or people in a Step-Parent like situation out there?

Hello everyone!
As you know I am going to be marrying sarushjr. I am not currently a biological parent but do play a "step-parent" type role right now for his daughter. There are may challanges with being in a parent type role but not being a child's parent. Just wondering if there was anyone else out there that could share with me some of thier experiences with this. It would be nice to know that I am not alone! Thanks!

Oh you are not alone. I am also a step parent, and that came about very suprisingly.
Let me explain. My soon to be husband and I have been together about 11 years now, when we were younger we of course had problems and were together at times off and on, we lost a baby in 1998 and decided we needed to be appart for a while to grow up a bit. well we saw other people during that time and he saw a girl for about a month and then she moved away out of town. We got back together about a month after his relationship with her and in september 2006 we got a phone call and she said she had a 5 year old son an my soon to be husband was his dad, we got DNA testing done and yep I was a step mom of a 5 year old! WOW sounds like a episode on murry right?? well when I heard and was letting the Idea settle in it felt like something from murry!!
But it sounds like your doing a pretty good job at being a step parent, your getting married right?? you must be doing something right!

I have been with my husband since my stepdaughter was 9mon old. Being a step parent sucks. You have ALL the responsiblity of helping to shape a life and be a good example and no authority. That being said. I adore my DD with all my heart. I honestly dont know if I would undo all that has happened in the last 4years. I wish you the best. Fair firm and consistant. Congrates on the upcoming wedding.
