Default ban on bratz dolls for now

Barbie beats back Bratz - Dec. 4, 2008

I have a hard time believing they won't end up over turning this ruling but personally I hate the dolls and wouldn't be sad to see them go

What the heck. You get to sue someone for being more successful than you are now?

My girls don't own Barbies or Bratz but this is just silly.

Won't bother myself or K that much...she loves her Barbies, but I'm not a big fan of the Bratz at all. I agree with Sirk though...it's a very silly situation.

apparently the creator of the bratz dolls came up with the idea while they were working for Mattel. So, they're saying the intellectual property belongs to Mattel, not the company that the creator started making the dolls at. Mind boggling really

It seems that the creater of Bratz came up with the idea while he was employed by Mattel...that was the actual issue, so I agree it's a fair ruling. When you are employed by a company and create an idea at the companies request, it is actually the company that hold the rights not the employee.

Haha...wow Fallon...looks like you beat me by a few mins - hahaha

Weird. But oh well, Barbies were first. I always thought the Bratz dolls were strange. But that's just me.

I never liked them...I think they encourage kids to be trashy.

Yup....I certainly wouldn't let my dd dress like that, so why would I want her playing with dools dressed like that...

Barbie on the other hand has some class.
