Yup, the long waiting times are definitely a downfall.

But it's really rare cases or special surgeries... many Canadians go to the U.S. because there are specialists in a particular field we may not have in Canada...

Yes, sometimes you have to wait really long, but I think it's a small price to pay for free healthcare... I don't even understand how you guys can afford insurance... but I guess that's why 50% of Americans are uninsured or underinsured.

It seems socialized health care really benefits the lower income.
We don't pay our insurance (thank God) My husband is union so his work and then the union pay for us. Of course we have co-pays and such, but at least we can afford those lol

I think there are benifits and disadvantages to both

We are barely insured. We pay an arm and a leg for a premium and it isn't even worth it because our deductible is so high. Healthcare in America is ridiculous. Don't even get me going there.
