A list from the internet is great .. but how can you truly have judgment on any place that youve never been nor understand.

I dont see any hatred, I see frustration over lack of education. You truly have no idea the amount of Americans that truly think we live in Igloos ... ask about .. "my buddy Dave lives in Canada ... do you know him?" . Ive been asked if we celebrate Christmas in Canada ... as if its only a USA holiday.

Holidays, freedom of speech, Spanish being our third language ... and the list goes on. Its the arrogance that we, as Canadians have gotten over the years with having the USA as our neighbor ... and largest trading partner to one another... its the attitude that USA wants our resources ... but dont want to pay for them and owes us HUGE $$ for power and water ... free trade is a one way street ... softwood lumber tariffs that kill our industry ... but the USA wants all our plywood and particle board by the rail load ... to rebuild after Katrina...

Its a general "All about me" attitude throughout the world. Its how Americans are viewed all over. Think of it this way ... your neighbor is always flashing what they have and telling you all about how great they are ... but doesnt want to hear a thing about you or your life .... wouldnt that annoy you at a certain point and time?

Now this IS a generalization, and no I dont have problems with any Americans personally, but what I would ask... is educate yourself... educate your children .. find out who we are if your schools wont teach it.

Yes this has turned a bit of a bash ... both sides ... Canadians are Proud ... just as Americans are ... we are dying right beside the Marines in Afghanistan...

I commend you for even wanting to learn .. for asking and wanting to understand ... cheers to you for that ... but all I ask is try and understand the other side of the coin (the one with the moose head on it) LOL

I think this is more universal than just Canada/US. LOL, When I was a kid growing up in Oklahoma, someone actually asked if we lived in teepees and rode horses to school.... they were serious.

I dont know ... could quite be ... but Ive seen the same "mentality" in Mexico even ... and it was said that in the USA you learn about Mexico ....so I really cant say worldwide as I haved lived all over and done any kind of study ...

Im not sure what age your referring to.. as Im sure many kids dont understand .. Im speaking overall and generally not just one or two instances.

Im not bashing here ... Im pointing out what is well known ... Americans arent taught much of anything to do with Canada

I saw this thread going as kind of a fun banter back and forth... not sure where it got so serious.

I promise not to patronize you I think we can talk about this like adults, no? We can only learn from each other, we have absolutely nothing to lose.

Oh and the patriotism in this thread is AWESOME, on both sides
Sorry, I couldn't help but feel like every time I asked a question I was being treated like some dumb ass American. I had serious questions that were laughed at. How was I supposed to feel?
