Default Child Passenger Safety

Are your kids properly restrained in your vehicles? Are you SURE?

Motor vehicle crashes are the No. 1 killer of kids.
Why? In many cases, children are either not properly buckled into their safety seats or parents don’t realize that a booster seat is vital to ensuring children fit safely in their vehicle’s seat belt. Don’t take a chance. Have your child’s safety seat inspected!

I had an officer come over and teach me how to properly install my seats. That is wonderful lesson.

It is a law here that your child has to be in a booster until they are 4'9" tall. Do other states have similar laws?

Also I think if you take your car/seat to a fire station those guys can also make sure the seats are properly installed.

Car seat laws vary A LOT, and not all of them coincide with current safety recommendations.

Not all police or fire stations have certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians on staff.

GOOD for you for keeping your kids in boosters! Kids are safest in boosters until they are at least 4'9" tall and can pass the 5 Step Test.
http://www.carseat.org/Boosters/630.pdf

My DS (11) just recently hit 4'9" and can pass the 5 Step Test. DD (9) is small for her age and will be in a booster for a long time yet.
