Children: Nichole | Re: quick question about wipes | | well you should definately check out www.diaperswappers.com
Its where a lot of WAHM sell their diapers and wipes.
There are many ways to do wipes. Some people will ues paper towel and cut the roll in half then place the half in a wipe container filled with the solution. If you are doing cloth wipes you could make the wipe solution in the container (tupperware works well too) then place a dozen or two wipes in the container.
What I use is just washclothes. If I started when she was a baby I would have used actauly cloth wipes though.
I make my solution in a squirt bottle then squirt it on the wash cloth or on her booty to clean her.
If you need ways to make solution, well thats easy too. I use water (hot) add aloe vera, baby shampoo (just a small squirt) and a small amount of baby oil. Shake and serve lol.
Some people add other things like euceptus(sp) oil, tea tree oil, things like that. To me less is more though.
Some stores on line even sell these little things that you just add to your water and shake it up. There is a site called www.londonfrogg.com that sells them. I have used theres and it is so nice. They are cheap too, a few dollars for a dozen or something like that. Also make sure if you use diaper cream you have one that is ok to use with cloth diapers. Londonfrogg has one called frogg jelly that is great!!!! Its all organic natural stff. No phoney coloring or chemicals. Works amazingly well also. Its the only cream that helped Nichole when she had mage bad rash. Now we use it at every change.
Anything I didn't answer just ask.

I didn't know that about the diaper cream, do you think it would say on it if it's OK or not? He hasn't had a rash yet but we've got Butt Paste in the house I'll have to check it out I guess. Is cornstarch powder OK to use with cloth?
also how many do you go through a day right now, I'm trying to think a head a bit?

Children: Nichole | Re: quick question about wipes | | You can't use butt paste, it will corrode the diaper. You can use aquaphore though. Other then that I don't know over the counter creams that are safe. Yes corn starch is fine. As far as diapers go, I use around 8 I would say. Some days less though. Other days more. lolI only have abround 14 diapers and I do laundry either every day or every other day depending. Just soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes then wash in hot. Make sure you are using a good detergent though. Some swear by vinager, not sure how much though. We use Tide Free and Clear or Cheer free. Just nothing with dyes or perfumes in it. I guess it can ruin the diaper.
What type of diapers are you planning to use? I use mostly fitted and pockets. i love the pockets the most.
Oh with the cornstarch it is better to ue the kind you buy in the baking aile compared to the baby brand ones. The baby ones have fragrance in them. Just plain ol baking corn starch is safe on the diapers.

Children: Nichole | Re: quick question about wipes | | lol My mother in law just thought our diapers were so neat!! lol Yay and they don'tuse pins anymore! lol We have a bunch of prefolds. I have only had to use them once though. Out water was turned off for two days for construction crud and I ran out of diapers! so had to use the snappies and prefolds!
I have a few fuzzi buns, they are ok. I prefer some of my WAHM ones over any of them though. They are just cuter!!!

I think it's amazing how much they've changed though. I can't imagine what it was like before, I think that's what scares people from using the. when my MIL saw the burp cloths I use she told me they were the same as the diapers she used for the boys, she also had a diaper serves though
If you have any websites you could suggest that would be great, I have no experience with this. I've been reading around but personal experience is always best so I'd love to hear about it, also if you know where to find good prices I like hear about that too, it's $198 for 12 fuzzi bunz and 12 inserts, seemed like that was a pretty good price but like I said IDK
thanks again you've been a big help already

Children: Nichole | Re: quick question about wipes | | Well fuzzibunz is expensive!!! I really sugest going to www.diaperswappers.com You can buy diapers there for a great price. Yes they are used but, you can buy them with no stains and things like that. There are also moms on there that make them at home and then sell them. You can get brand new ones (very cute at that for around 10 a diaper.. Some are more some are less. Moms will go on there all the time and sell whole lots of diapers (like 20 or so) for very cheap prices. When there child outgrows them they sell them to get the next size up. Nichole is still in Mediums but if she outgrows these I will sell mine and buy larges.

Children: Nichole | Re: quick question about wipes | | lol I was too. Of course I was lucky and when I switched to them, I had friends that had been doing for over a year. So they gave me their extras to try. So I haven't had to buy any for Nichole. The next baby will be cloth diapered from the begining though
