Fostering is different than the children for whom it has already been determined that they cannot go back to their homes ever. Yes, these children have been hurt, but too often, people are scared away because of the "foster child from hell" stories. These children have lost everything, so yes they are going to have issues, but they need homes too., even more than babies. And each minute that they get older, they will become harder to place, and it is more likely they will age out at 18 with no home family or friends to speak of.
Over 100,000 chidren age out every year
I commend you both for considering. It's not an easy decision, but also not what some people make it out to be | I actually know an older couple who have fostered 70 children and adopted 5 plus have a couple of their own. They amaze me and the love they have for each of these children honestly inspired me

Children: One boy 8, twin girls 7. | Re: Adoption | | Just from yesturday's events I can tell you that I wish adoption would be more open. I have no way of knowing my husbands family history and so my little girl may be suffering. |

Children: One boy 8, twin girls 7. | Re: Adoption | | My husband isn't here for me to ask but I don't think it really made a difference to him. We believe you don't have to have the same blood to be family. When I tell my dh how our children do things like him he just laughs and says "yup, that's my son/daughter" Thanks on the record search. I've already found everything out. He was adopted through Catholic Charities in Florida. |

Actually what she said about the Russian kids hit my heart and now I am seriously considering adopting from there. It does not matter where someone adopts from they are making a human life better. That is all that matters. |
