I guess this goes here. I have some questions about adoption, overseas really. My friends have told me it take years (Years!) to finally have the kid come over to US, because of legal implications. Is this true as I think my friends may be wrong. Also what about costs. When I adopt I will not care but I just would like to be in the know. And lastly this is for those who have adopted kids. Do they always wonder who there biological parents are. I mean i plan to treat them as if they are blood but will it bother them as they get older? Anyway thanks in advance for answers!  | ||

in some cases it can take years depending on where, all countries have different laws on this but expect it to take quite a while and be very expensive. I can't really give you numbers but I know quite a few families who have adopted this way and there were a lot of hoops to jump through | ||

I highly recommend that all parents watch the documentary My Flesh and blood. It is related to adoption and foster care. http://imdb.com/title/tt0342804/ What I like about the documentary is that is not a make-me-feel-good story where people triumph against all odds to live happily ever after. It is a realistic story, where not everyone comes off looking perfect. Just people trying to do very good things, and doing their best as parents. One of the very best documentaries I have ever seen on adoption is: "Who Are the DeBolts? And Where Did They Get Nineteen Kids?" http://imdb.com/title/tt0076918/ http://www.debolts.com/ The Debolts documentry can be viewed instantly over the internet on Netflix.com and they have it on DVD. How about within the US. How long does adoption take here. I mean I still want to adopt kids from overseas but I am also wondering about within the US. I mean I know it takes long because of legal problems and precautions that are probably good. But it sucks when you know children are being trafficked in other countries so easily for slaver, sex, or work. When I just want to give a couple a good life and it takes me years. Frustrating to say the least... | ||

I don't know but I have hear that over seas is cheaper. I would strongly suggest finding a adoption board. THere are many out there. Talk to some parents who have already gone through the process. I know of a few sites, so if you want them let me know

We adopted both our children in the US. Their adoptions were not all that expensive, and we have not had any problems at all. I will say we had one adoption fall through, as the birth mom decided to keep her baby after she gave birth. We were devastated, but have a very strong faith and knew that God did not have it in his plans for us to have that baby. We adopted our son at birth, and our daughter (out of foster care) at 18 months. Life is good! The most important suggestion I can give you is to use a reputable adoption attorney or adoption agency. Do not do it on your own. | ||
