Default 13 month old vocabulary

Is it normal for Oliver to have such an extensive vocabulary at such a young age? He is talking in sentences already too, which he started a few months back actually. Some things that he says are: "There it is" "What's that?" "I'm busy" "All done" and more. He also knows what something is when you ask for it. For instance, we were playing a game last night where I was making him fetch me certain things and he brought me the "hat", "Nemo", "book" and "ball". I'm just so amazed at how much he knows already. He even argues with me sometimes. He'll eat a piece of lint off the floor and I'll say "icky" and he gives me this evil look and says "that's yum yum". Crazy kid. He's too smart for his own good.

I think that's normal. All mine were were talking at that age. It started with "ball" and then to "what's that?"

It's funny seeing him walk around the house saying "wussat? wussat?" Then he answers himself "that's yum yum." lol

That much vocabulary is normal at 13 months? That surprises me...but then again, I only have one kid.

My brother has a daughter who is nearly 2, and he vocabulary is like...0. She is highly intelligent, active, and understands things...but when it comes to talking, she's still speaking ga-ga mostly.

Don't kids develop at a different pace?

I don't think Bradley was that vocal at that age.

Oliver has always been behind with things like rolling over, sitting up, crawling and walking. So knowing that he may be ahead for once would be cool.

His mom seems to talk a lot so maybe that's why he does.

All kids develop at different paces. Some are vocal very early, while some can walk at 8 months. Just depends on the kid. "Normal" is a really, really, really wide range.

I think zero vocabulary at two years old isn't right. I've never heard of that.
