I am so sorry for the ones of you that have had emergency c-sections, i couldn't imagine the fear that you must have.
As far as me ever choosing a c-section, no ton your life. I have only had one child so not a lot of experience but from those I know and the research I have done, most c-sections are not needed. Not to say that any of yours were not needed. Plus with c-sections its harder to breastfeed your baby for a few different reasons. The drugs that are in you are in your baby from c-sections. Obviously I am not talking about medically necessary c-sections, of course I would have one if it was life or death. But to CHOOSE one just because is nuts. My dd was vaginal, as I said, she did not have a cone head at all, and scored 9 on her first apgar test. So not every vaginal baby is cone head. Again I would gladly take a cone head over a c-section any day.

I delivered by EXIT procedure (a long version of a C-section) because I had to, my son had CDH. If I didn't have to I would have anyway. For me its a mental thing, I would rather have a scar on my tummy than be stretched out somewhere else. There are risks on both side of the fence with the choice between vaginal and c-section. Its all about personal preference. My sister-in-law delivered both of her children through c-section. The first because she had been in labor far too long and wasn't progressing at all. The second for the obvious reason that the first one was c-section. After 24 hours she was playing on the floor with her son. I am currently trying to have another and I will opt for c-section, but I did consider VBAC, which is even more controversial. I hope this helps!!

I don't know if VBAC is all that contraversial. But I still don't think what the OP was talking about. You had a c-section for medical reasons. She is referring to women who have completely normal pregnancies then decide to do a c-section just because they want to. You had to have one to help your son. I don't consider that an elective surgery.
If it was me, I would have a vbac, but its easier for me to sit here and say that never having the experience of a section.

I live in a small area and there isn't a hospital w/in 45mins that would do VBAC. My son would probably have DIED sooner if i didn't do a c-section, i don't call the elective! C-section is a great choice. People have options. I gave a response based on my point of view and how I
Interpreted the question.

Default Re: C-section or vaginal?

Oh what a topic! Well I have two daugthers And big babies run in my family! my first I delivered vaginal I was induced on my due date because of high blood pressure (I was 19 my first pregnancy) my daughter was 9lbs 3oz at birth everyone was very suprised, there was some difficulty during pushing (I pushed for over 2 hours). And after she was born I hemmeraged a lot but we got through it fine. My second because of my history of having a big baby already we planed to be induced 2 weeks before I was due so the baby would not be 9lbs or over, I wanted a vaginal delivery that time also but after 15 hours in labor my daughter was under stress and her heart rate was dropping and she was coming and I was only at 3 so they did a emergency C-section she was 8lbs 4oz. I had a hard recovery - expecially since I also had a 2 1/2 year old who still wanted mommy to hold her. Well if we decided to have another baby I would choose a vaginal birth over a C-section anyday (unless medical nessary). You get so much more (emotionally) out of a vaginal birth, from my experience anyway.

I had both of my boys vaginally, and with nothing more than a few shots of Stadol to ease the pain. If it would have been a matter of life or death for my child, you better believe they would have done a C-section. I can't understand why a woman would choose one for convenience, though. That's just asking for trouble, in my opinion.

hi, um i had to have a c-section with my son he is only 7 mths old.... it wasn't my choice it had to be done to get him out because my pelivs was way to narrow and wouldn't allow him to get into the birth cannal.... c-sections are not the easy way out like some women think you have to recover from major adominal surgery it does hurt... and i do think giving birth vaginally does hurt extremily to but hey the baby has to come out somewhere right... My story... it was 1 week to my due date i felt a little trickle and thought that couldn't be.. so i went to the hospital they said i was 3cm dilated and they would do the opperation at 8pm that night.. so i sent my partner home for my stuff and the doctors and nurses rushed into the room like there was a fire or something and started to prep me for the opp and no one would tell me what was going on so i had a panic attack finally that all calmed down and i was going to the theatre when i noticed someone was missing MY PARTNER.. but he was waiting there for me... i had the epidural as i was lying there i felt very sick but it went away ( luckily for that because i had prawns for lunch ) after ryan was born and was in my room i felt very sore and i wasn't able to get up to my baby the nurse did but i did on the 2nd day.. but everything went well after that and went home on the 5th day with my baby boy.

There are a lot of dangers to having a VBAC that many women don't realize. That is why I choice not to. I would rather have the odds of having another planned c-section then to have my uterus rupture and chance losing my child! But of course that is just me!
