A little background info..
I am 18, turning 19 in December..
Have been with the father for 3 years.
Both of us are very excited.
He's in the National Guard and I work in-house collections for a major hospital.
I'm planning on breastfeeding but we'll see how that works out.
It's a boy, which is what I had hoped for..would have loved a girl just as much but she would have been bound to be mismatched and messy haired forever.
I'm 21 weeks and 5 days, according to my ticker, I didn't see where I could put that in my signature but I'll figure it out.
Oh, and I can feel the baby move now, I had read that with your first it might be as long as 24 weeks before you can feel the baby but I am feeling him kick now, some of my co-workers have gotten to feel him(I work nights) but he doesn't move much during the day so none of my family has felt him yet. He normally starts moving around and kicking when I lay still at night.
So, Just thought I'd introduce myself! I've been lurking for about a week and decided to finally join. |

This is off topic, but I take it by your signature that you didn't circumsize your boy? I ask because I don't plan on having it done to mine, and I've gotten many a nose turned up at me and told that I'm "gross" for leaving it..
What have been the pros and cons for you so far?

Don' tlet any one decide whether circumsizing is right for you. Do the research and decide for yourself. Besides who will even know either way after the baby is born.
Please study up on Breastfeeding now. Don't say you will try, just say you will. You will be less likely to fail then. Get help early if you need it and you will be fine!!
Congrats on the new baby!! |

Children: 1 boy, Nolan Kai | Re: New Member..22 weeks pregnant.. | | Well I've already decided not to circumsize I've just gotten so much negative feedback that I wonder if there is any truth to it, but everything I've researched has led me to not want to do it.
I want to breastfeed and I won't fail because I decide it hurts or anything but I don't know anyone who has breastfed and the lactation consultants that work in the hospitals here are iffy. You are lucky to get one that will actually help you. My roommate is 21 with a four month old and she wanted to breastfeed him but no one in the hospital would help her do it right so he wasn't getting enough milk and she had to stop. That's the only thing I'm worried about.

People will tell you that he will be made fun of, personally I think it's silly, over 40% of boys aren't circ'd. I've gotten my fair share of looks since I decided not to do. My son was born with a parctial circ (basically his thing is a little bent) so they wouldn't even think about doing it until he was 1. Don't worry a thing about what anyone thinks but you and you guy, you to will no what's best for your baby. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help when you need it but don't ever let anyone bring you down for the choices you make

Children: 1 boy, Nolan Kai | Re: New Member..22 weeks pregnant.. | | That's good to hear. I work with a nursing student and when she found out I wasn't going to do it she told me that it was nasty and it was going to get infected even if I did clean it. Of course she thinks that all she sees at the hospital are people with problems no one goes to the hospital when there's nothing wrong..so I started to tell her the pros and cons I had with it and one of them was decreased sensitivity. And she pretty much told me I was an idiot and that she wouldn't argue with me about something I had "just formed an opinion about"!!!. I was so mad, I've read about this so much I even read about what if my son wanted to do it later it is an outpatient procedure with a 10 day recovery time..I just formed an opinion?! Haha. And anyway, you would have to be stupid to think that "unsheathing" a part of your body and exposing it to fabrics like terrycloth and denim that it wouldn't lose sensitivity!
I hope nursing school doesn't do that to me. I got accepted but I have to wait until August to start so I won't miss part of a semester.

Children: Nichole | Re: New Member..22 weeks pregnant.. | | She is crazy then. It does not just get infected unless someone pull son it maybe. lol But Fallon will be able to talk to you more about that as I do not have a son (yet).
Call your local LLL (le Leche League) our hospitals were bad Lactaton ladies as well. Its common in most hospitals. I feel so bad for people who look for help and cannot get it. If you try gettin ghelp and it doesn't work out you will know you did all you could. |
