 | Scared Daddy | | Can anyone recommend a good 1st person POV fatherhood book or tips for the father who has looked like a deer in headlights since we tested positive? Although having kids was discussed, we weren't planning on having any for quite a few years yet (Due date is Oct. 9, 2008). I'm afraid if I don't soothe my partner at least a little he may have a heart attack and leave me a single parent (worst case I know, but still his stress levels are starting to worry me). |

Children: Nichole | Re: Scared Daddy | | If you go to the bookstore, there are many books on the subject. Some take a more funny approach, some more serious, I would sugest starting there. And congrats! |

Well when i found out i was pregnant, my bf and i were in university, and we had been together for 3 1/2 years (unmarried). And although the timing wasn't right (with school etc) we made it work. I finished up my 3rd year ( i still have a few courses to do but nothing crazy) and he has since graduated from university, and working full time as an accountant and is going for his CA. Granted we had alot of help. My parents let us stay at their home at no charge to anything, and we were able to stay there until luke was a year old. And by that time we were looking for appartments anyway. The thing is, we were both scared, not ready and terrified as to what was to come. But like i said we made it work, and here we are almost 6 years together and everything worked out well.
You just need to assure him that it isn't the end of the world, and it isn't as scary as it seems.

 | Re: Scared Daddy | | Sounds pretty similar. I just moved back in with my mom, and he's finishing up school. The hardest part is that he's going to be gone on his internship over the summer and we won't see eachother until a month before the babys born. I'm excited and confidant that things will work, especially with having my mom at my side and acting as pregnancy coach while my boyfriend gets his future in order. I try to reassure him as much as I can...hopefully its enough. Although I'm sure that what seems like extremely stressed to me (he's always been super laid-back) is probably just normal huh? |

Children: 4 Year Old Daughter | Re: Scared Daddy | | Don't worry, when the baby comes along you won't even HAVE time to worry about it.
Seriously, I think it's completely normal to have those jitters.
