Just as an aside - I've been having contractions all morning. They aren't terribly regular, but tend to be within 15 minutes of each other.

Keep your fingers crossed! I'm 41 weeks and 3 days overdue today, and it would sure be nice for the baby to make an appearance!

I was shocked that the pushing didn't hurt- it was more a relief. I had three completely natural births but my first I was induced and I had pre-eclampsia.

Hi Kaytee! I just wanted to reply to what you said about standing up for yourself more in the hospital. I'm really nervous about that myself (I'm due in January), because I'm such a pushover, and I hate to be mean to people, but I really want everything to go down as close to how I imagine it as possible... If you would've demanded that they leave your daughter in the room would they have had to comply?

I can tell you from my experience...I had my kids at 2 different hospitals, and had a c-section with both...With my daughter, they took her at night, for baths, and if she needed blood drawn or anything, but they would leave her as much or as little as I wanted, the only reason they took her at night is so I could get a little rest while I was recovering from surgery and even then it was like 2am before I'd let them take her. Now with my son (for 3 days he was in the NICU...for 2 he was in my room) they never took him, except once for a bath. Basically what I'm saying is each hospital is a little different about it.

It is true they all can be very different. BUT if you demand that ALL things be done to the baby in your room, they have to comply. You may have to really push for it htough. I mean REALLY push for it. Also make sure you have a birth plan written up and that every single person who walks into that room know what you want and don't want. Talk to your doc before hand and let him know what you want and don't want as well. Alway s be ready for the unexpected though. If your baby does need the NICU then of course they would have to go.

Things I would have changed: They would have done ALL procedures in the room with me, if they wouldn't then I would go down there with them. My baby would not leave my sight. I would not have given her the Hep B shot. Why test me then still give it to her. if I am negative well.. I doubt she will be having unprotected sex or doing iv drugs in the next few weeks. Since those are the only ways to catch, I think we will be ok. I wouldn't have been such a push over when they told me if my child did not have a bowel movement within 6 hours of birth they were going to give her formula. Now granted she did have one so it wasn't an issue, it still really bothered me. thats all i have for now

You will be fine, just know what you want and go in there demanding what you want. This is your baby and your birth experience
