This is absolutely ridiculous. It amazes me that stuff like this happens in the name of "self-esteem". We live in a society that thrives on competition. It's everywhere: music, sports, jobs, grades. What's next? Are we going to ditch every competetive sport, music competition, honor roll because somebody may "feel bad" because they came in second place?
To me, this is a part of growing up and learning life's lessons.

Part of sportsmanship is knowing that you're not always going to be number one, that in everything in life, there is always a number one, a number two, a number three and so on.
I think at 9 and 12, the children are ready to learn this life lesson. Let 'em play!

Children: Ryan 17, Sean 12, Landon 9, Kathleen 6 and Nathan 2. | Re: All Star Game Cancellation | | I think it's absolutely ridiculous to cancel the all-star game. Two of my boys play Little League and it is the most fun day of the summer for them! Last year, Sean was picked to play in the all-star game, but Landon wasn't, and he wasn't upset. All the kids who didn't get picked to play went to watch and cheer on their friends.
The all-star game for my kids league is on July 30, and I hope they don't cancel it. It's just a fun day for the kids, even if they're not playing. |

Poor and atheist people can be dumb too.
I think this is sad. There's nothing wrong with rewarding those work hard and do well. |

Children: Brian, 22; Adrienne, 18: Amy, 15 | Re: All Star Game Cancellation | | All this political correctness, self-esteem stuff is going over the top. How in the world did WE ever grow up to be responsible, caring adults, seeing as how WE weren't coddled like this when we were children? We had to face REAL LIFE from day one, and we turned out okay, for the most part.
BTW...I LOVE Beachwood....they have a great mall!! LOL
