What are your opinions? | Nope, nope, nope. To me, PG-13 means no tots. And most movies mean no infants because of the AMAZINGLY LOUD VOLUME. There is a local theater that has a "Movie Moms" time...or some other similar alliteration ("Film Fathers"? "Projection Parents"? I can't remember). They play select PG-13 movies during the day at a lower volume (and lesser price) for parents with infants, with the understanding that on occasion a kid will start screaming its lungs out and will need to be carried out. Seems like a good idea for both parents and tiny tots. |

(all the power to ya if you do )
Movies are really loud. |

Children: Brian, 22; Adrienne, 18: Amy, 15 | Re: Movies and kiddos | | We don't go to the theater because it's so expensive.....except to see Harry Potter movies. When the kiddos were under 13, we would rent videos and, if they were above PG, we prescreened and then decided which, if any, of the kids got to see them. We didn't always stick strictly to the ratings.

Children: Son-8 yrs old, 2 Daughters- 7 and 4 yrs old | Re: Movies and kiddos | | I don't stick to the ratings either. I normally will watch the movie first and see if it is bad for kids. My son's favorite movie is The Mummy, he also likes Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. They don't bother him at all so I let him watch them. My girls don't really watch movies all that much but when they do they prefer girly movies (Barbie, Bratz, Princess, ect).

They screen the movie and tell you exactly how much sex/gore/naughty words their are so you can make the decision to see it or not. |

As long as I have seen the movie I know if my child is ok to watch it. Monsters Inc, I know many parents that won't let their children watch it because it is "too scary" for a young child. Nichole has no problems watching it. I also have let her watch harry Potter movies with no trouble. She likes them. NOw my next one might be more sensitive to "scarier" movies such as Harry potter, but she is not |

Children: Ryan 17, Sean 12, Landon 9, Kathleen 6 and Nathan 2. | Re: Movies and kiddos | | I don't follow the movie ratings exactly (my 9 and 12 year olds have seen lots of PG-13 movies), but I would never take a toddler to a movie that had violence, sex or coarse language in it. An infant I can understand, because they wouldn't even be looking at it, but a toddler could get very scared, or could pick up the bad language.
I went to Sex and the City last night, and there was a woman there with her two daughters, who were probably about 6 and 10. I thought that was ridiculous, but to me, taking a toddler is even worse. |
