Children: Son-8 yrs old, 2 Daughters- 7 and 4 yrs old | Re: Movies and kiddos | | I have a freind who lets her little boy (about 3 1/2 yrs) watch movies like Jeepers Creepers, Saw 1234, The hills have eyes...Most of those movies freak me out and I won't watch them.
I have talked to her a little bit but she gets really defensive and it is her kid. I just tell her that she is not allowed to let my children watch that crap.

She says she doesn't want to shelter her kids. I'd rather shelter my kids then make them think stuff like that is normal. Especially at 3 1/2...that's crazy.

Children: 4 Year Old Daughter | Re: Movies and kiddos | | There is a difference between sheltering them and traumatizing them, IMO.

Children: Son-8 yrs old, 2 Daughters- 7 and 4 yrs old | Re: Movies and kiddos | | My dad let us watch any movie we wanted as long as it didn't have sex in it and we didn't watch any horror movies on Sunday. (It was God's day and the devil came through the TV) And I (as well as my sisters) ended up being traumatized from it, to this day. It is really hard and I don't want my kids to be scared to sleep in their own room ever. I wish I could go back and slap him and tell him NO this is not ok!!

Children: 4 Year Old Daughter | Re: Movies and kiddos | | There are so many little neuropathways still being developed at that age, it just doesn't seem right to expose them to such extreme violence.
