Open door policies are good, but there's also a need to teach kids tact and discretion when you live that way. It's a matter of simply teaching them that not everyone lives, thinks or feels the same and they need to remember and respect other people for their own individuality. And that sometimes, certain things just aren't appropriate public topics. Asking about a penis or vagina is perfectly fine within the confines of one's home. a 6 year old walking up to his teacher or daycare provider and commenting she has a nice rack is a whole other concept. |
