Children: Nichole | routine newborn care | | What are your opinion on Hep B at birth? Erythromyocin in the eyes at birth? Or the Vitamin K shot? |

Children: Brian, 22; Adrienne, 18: Amy, 15 | Re: routine newborn care | | I don't really have an opinion one way or the other. It didn't cause any harm to my children, but I don't know if it ever really did them any GOOD, either.

Children: Nichole | Re: routine newborn care | | very true. I did it all with Nichole, but didn't even look into it before she was born. HTe next one most likely will not get the eye goop or the Vit., K at birth. I don't think we will start vaccinating till months either |

Children: One boy 8, twin girls 7. | Re: routine newborn care | | All three of mine are fine. I think I'd do whatever it took to make sure my newborn was protected from the outside enviroment right away. Tooooo many people want to hold a newborn and if you are in public there are tons of germs. Better safe then sorry. |

Children: Nichole | Re: routine newborn care | | yes maybe, but hep B is spread through a positive mother, sex, and drugs. So my newborn will not be doing those anytime soon after birth.
Vit K is for a VERY VERY rare condition and is leaked to leukimea in children. The eye goop is an anitibiotic to protext against STD's, so if you are clean and know you are then you are fine |

Children: Isabella (9), Josephine (8), Hannah (5), and Natalia (7 months) | Re: routine newborn care | | No immunizations until at least 2-4 month checkup. No eye goop either. I do not have Hep B nor do I have any other STD so there is no need. Also Vitamin K is for clotting and only really needed if you have a boy that is getting circumsized. Obviously I did not have that issue.

Children: Nichole | Re: routine newborn care | | I'm with you there too. I think I have decided to wait till 6 months to start vaxing though with the next one.
Nichole goes for her 2 year check up probably next week sometime and I am debating whether I will vaccinate her with anything. I am most likely going to wait till we know that the diarrhea is from teething |

I think it should be up to the parents to decide
