no Christmas books in schools then, no Easter books in school then, no books about witches, slavery or any other contraversial topic. | Hey, I have no problem about my children learning about other religions. |

please. it takes time and a lot of protest, but eventually it does become accepted. Mississippi Burning? Great example of what used to happen. Remember the Titans... Ruby Bridges...
Birth of a Nation was the first full-length film was a horribly racist film. Know what the president said after seeing it? Something about it was like seeing history written in lightning. To him, this misogynistic film was an accurate portrayal of the world. nobody would feel that way now.
People WERE tortured, viciously killed because they were of a different skin color or fought for the rights of those with different skin color. It was only a decade or so ago that Alabama finally put an end to a law banning interracial marriage!
Now interracial couples are pretty much accepted. Haven't heard of any getting killed for their relationship lately. That wouldn't have been the case not too long ago. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner was pretty controversial when it came out. People were appalled. Nobody would give it a second thought now. (edit to add: as a matter of fact, that Ashton Kutcher film was based off the original 'Guess Who...", and nobody blinked when it came out.
Some day, people will be looking back on this debate with the same awe that this was ever an issue. Love is far too rare in this world, and should be respected regardless of the genders involved.

Reason: remembered the name of the race film

Children: One boy 8, twin girls 7. | Re: Same sex marriage: For or Against? | | The only reason people are opposed to it is because they look at the sexual act instead like that has anything to do with loving someone. Would you still marry your husband if he couldn't perform? Love is love. I think they should have the same rights if that's how they chose to live. They should have the choice to unplug their loved one or visit them in the hospital if they are sick. They pay taxes the same as the rest of society so they should have the same rights. It is in no way shape or form going to hurt the heterosexuals because gay people choose to marry to have rights to each other. I think anyone who is an asset to society and contributes should have all their rights, gay, straight, black , white, purple, circ'd. Everyone wants "world peace" but stops it when it tries to happen. |

To be ATTRACTED to a gender to me, is not a choice. I am attracted to men but I certainly didn't choose to be. That is just what has felt right to be from day one. I imagine that a homosexual does not TRY to be attracted to their own gender, but they are. The only choice is whether or not to ACT on that attraction. And personally, I can't imagine a life where I was in love with woman but forced myself to be with a man just to fit into someone else's social norm.

Someone mentioned how this would drain our resources but gay people contribute to those resources like everyone else and see no return on their contribution.

Children: 1 3-year-old boy | Re: Same sex marriage: For or Against? | | I am interested in this "don't expose my child to it" point of view.
When I worked in TV, the producer ran a piece on the 10 pm news about something gay-related (forget what now - could have been marriage). There was a clip of 2 men holding hands. Just the typical 15 second behind shot showing not much more than their hands.
Some guy called in IRATE because his young child saw that and how was he going to explain that? This was the same newscast that carried a story about a horrible murder... and it's the gay couple that you have a hard time explaining to your child? what?
If a gay couple walks by, do you block your child's view? Pretend it's not something that exists? it's a fact of life whether you like it or not...
So if following your gay tendencies is a matter of choosing between what is right and wrong, how are you deciding? Based off religion? We have freedom of religion in this country. Which means that I should be free of having your religious beliefs thrust on me. Homosexuality IS natural, and can be seen in the wild. It's not some human abberation.
