Television has so many good things on it, but there's also a lot of smut. I try to watch TV with my kids, that way if something comes up that I object to, I can switch it off or change the channel.

I let my kids watch television. I screen everything first but I do let them watch. Hannah Montana is a fave here. To be honest though I'd be surprised if they watch an hour a day. They are usually busy reading or more often playing in our backyard. When it is rainy though (which it tends to be in Oregon) they watch a little more than when it is clear out. Still they know what is allowed and what I don't approve of.

My son is one year old and he has never watched TV. The TV in our house is always off. Instead we play, read, dance and sometimes have music playing in the background. I don't think that TV is good for a child, especially at this young of an age. Too much stimulation.

Default Re: Television

I odn't know, too much tv is bad but i can tell you Nichole has done great with TV. She now knows some spanish words that i didn't teach her. She can count to 10 in Spanish. Now that I have taught her but tv helps to bring it home for her.
There is a show on PBS that is called Super Y. Nichole calls it super heros but... it is all about reading and spelling and phonics all that good stuf. She wwatches this show so intencly and even calls out the words after the learn to read them.

my daughter plays the Super Y game on the internet but here the show won't start for a couple more weeks. we're excited about it because she has learned so much from the game...I looked over the other day and she was spelling words I'm sure I would have had to look up...lol
