I am surprised by the amount of people okay with personal protection laws. Me not wearing my seatbelt has nothing to do with anyone outside of the car (Trina gave the only reasonible response to the law) I'm supposed to wear my seatbelt because someone might have to scrape me off the road?? Why? They are getting paid/getting the same benefits..etc whether they scrape me off the road or not. People were upset because the no spanking law "told you how to raise your kids" but doesn't the no seatbelt law tell me how I am to live my life?

An excerpt from: The Benefits of State Seat Belt Laws "Increasing the national seat belt use rate to 90 percent from the current 68 percent would prevent an estimated 5,536 fatalities, 132,670 injuries and save the nation $8.8 billion annually. We all pay for those who do not wear seat belts. The higher health care and insurance costs that result from unbelted drivers and passengers involved in crashes get passed along to everyone. For example, the costs of hospital care for an unbelted driver are 50 percent higher than those for a driver who was wearing a safety belt. Society bears 85 percent of those costs, not the individuals involved." |

Children: 4 yr old goof ball | Re: Too stupid to take care of ourselves? | | I thought about suing Pert because the instructions say 'wash, rinse, repeat'. I figure if I do that long enough all my hair will fall out and I can be a millionaire.

They would just say I was unneccessarily washing my hair.

Oh, don't think for one minute that some companies haven't safeguarded themselves with adding that little "as necessary" at the end of their warning.

Children: Lita - 8, Anya - 3 | Re: Too stupid to take care of ourselves? | | I rented a Mercury Mountaineer this weekend and it kept binging and freaking out at me because it thought the boxes in the passenger seat was a person who needed to BUCKLE UP RIGHT THE FUCK NOW! I had to pull the boxes out and buckle it.
It made me think of you. |
