 | Would you buy a boy a kitchen? | | Hi Everyone,
I am new here and I need some advice. I have a three year old son who loves to pretend to cook. When he goes on a playdate to a girl's house, he usually only wants to play in the pretend kitchen. He has tons of boy toys that he also enjoys playing with, cars, trains, planes, action figures, tools, etc. etc. This weekend we had a huge birthday party for him and asked everyone to not bring presents, as he has tons of toys and will be overloaded with Christmas presents in a few months anyway. In exchange, I told him he could have any one present that he wishes from the toy store. He asked for a kitchen.
My husband is leaving it up to me but has expressed that he does not want his son to have a kitchen. The problem is I can't talk my son out of the kitchen(believe me I have tried), and I feel bad because I did promise him one toy in exchange for no birthday presents at the party.
I don't know why this is bothering me so much. After all, I grew up with two brothers and never played with dolls. What do you guys think? Is it okay to give a boy a kitchen? Have any mother of boys been through this? |

My SO said (jokingly) it needs lots of knives and maybe a gun rack to make it more masculine. I think him playing with a kitchen will be fine..does your DH ever do any of the cooking? He had to learn somehow.
