Children: 1 Boy | Getting enough dairy/fat | | We are in the process of weening Brian off the bottle. At this point, he only has a bottle before bed.
Since he isn't getting milk in a large quantity at set times throughout the day, we have been a little concerned that he is getting enough fat in his diet. I don't know if he is getting 16 oz. of milk a day, although I don't think so.
We make sure he gets cheese or yogurt or yogurt/fruit drink or either types of diary during the day. Recently, he has been off having yogurt in the morning.
I'm wondering if others may have suggestions as to how to ensure he is getting the right amount of dairy/fat.

Children: 2 children, Debra Lyn, and Logan (Bubba) Michael | Re: Getting enough dairy/fat | | sounds like your doing just fine. He'll drink all the milk he wants and as long as your giving him yogurts, cheese, and offering milk to drink he do just great. As long as he is continuing to thrive you don't have to worry to much

I wouldn't worry so much about his fat intake from milk, just that he is getting all of the calcium. There are a lot of products that have healthier forms of fat, avocados as mentioned, bananna's most fresh fruits and veggies, fish, depending on babies age, although mine have all had it after a year. Spinach has a great supply of calcium also. One other tip I have is to not look at his day to day intake, but a weekly/bi-weekly intake, kids will eat you out of house and home for a few days then touch nothing for a week, so if you look at it over a course of time you will see a better view of what thier actual intake is.

One trick I did try is getting some sugar Free chocolate syrup and give my son a treat once in a while and give him chocolate milk or chocolate soy milk. Most of the time he really likes the yogurt and cheese and he is extremely healthy.
You will do just fine!!
